What is Store Shutter?

Store shutter is a Shopify App that lets you apply a virtual shutter to your Shopify Store. You can redirect visitors from certain pages to a particular landing page. Its perfect for shutting your store if you want to stop sales temporarily for any reason – it could be because your using shopify to take orders in your shop, cafe or bar and need the ability to shut in the evening, or because your site hasn’t fully launched yet but you want to start getting your website in front of customers.

Does store shutter stop me being billed?

No, store shutter doesnt disable your website and stop you being billed by shopify, it allows you to keep your site live letting visitors view all the pages on your site accept the ones that you choose to shutter.

Im seeing a 404 page not found error when the shutter is closed

When closed the shutter redirects users to a page of your choosing if they try to access a page on your site that matches the keywords. You might get a 404 if you havent selected a page to redirect you visitors to. This can be done by going into your shopify admin,

selecting apps -> Store Shutter -> Configure Shutter

Then choosing a page from the drop down list. Please note the drop down only show pages that have been published, (are marked as visible). If the drop down is empty you may need to create a page, or change the visibility of any pages you have created to visible, then go back into the shutter application. The docs desribes how to set this up in more detail.

The shutter says closed, but the pages are still accessible?

Check your settings, the shutter will only close pages that have one of the keywords in their URL. Typically you would add the keywords ‘collections’, ‘product’ and ‘cart’. But you can use any keywords you like to shutter individual products or specific custom pages.

Can I automate opening / closing of the shutter?

Currently you have to open and close the shutter manually, but we are working on a scheduling feature for our next update to let the shutter be open and closed automatically
